Company Update

We are thrilled to announce that Column was recently named the winner of a Miami startup competition hosted at the Wynwood Walls by Goldman Properties, OnDeck, and Mayor Francis Suarez!
As the winning startup, Column has secured one year of free office space in the Wynwood Art District, which will open in September.
Since our launch last year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Column has grown rapidly as a distributed, remote-first company with team members on several continents. As we continue to grow and begin to expand internationally, we plan to maintain physical spaces in key cities or as needed by specific teams.
Our CEO, Jake Seaton, shared his reaction after winning, "Miami has been pulling Column forward as a company. The McClatchy Company and The Miami Herald have leaned into using our tools with the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County and accelerated the development of our platform in ways we never would have anticipated. We are grateful to Goldman Properties for the opportunity to open an office here in Miami. We look forward to the adventure ahead in this awesome city."
Column counts McClatchy, which owns The Miami Herald, as well as the Florida Press Association among its key go-to-market partners for its first product — a software platform used by media businesses to support governments and the legal sector in the process of notifying the public.
"We want to congratulate our partners at Column on their victory and officially welcome them to Florida," said FPA President Jim Fogler. "Under Jake's leadership, the Column team has been innovative, results-driven, and insanely collaborative in their work to build the future of public notice. It's no surprise they won, and Miami will be lucky to have them."
Florida is a key frontier for public notice policy innovation. This year, the state legislature passed a historic and significant legislative package. Column is committed to empowering Florida publishers and the Florida Press Association with the technology they need to meet this new policy framework head-on. We aim to help publishers facilitate statewide compliance with these changes, simplify the process, and deliver a powerful customer experience for the local governments, legal services, and individuals required to place notices by law. We have big plans in store for our time in Florida.
Opening a physical office, while remaining a remote-first company, also offers exciting opportunities for our current and future team members to spend time in Miami's vibrant emerging technology scene. Needless to say, the question of where to host next year's Winter team retreat has been answered!
